Test-Taking Skills

An Adviser's Top Three Suggestions

  1. Don’t wait until the day before the test to begin studying. Consistently study, keep up with the course material and begin reviewing for the test at least three days in advance.
  2. Know what to expect for your exams (i.e., what kind of test will be given and the general information to be covered). Adjust your study methods to the type of test you will be taking (essay, multiple choice, etc.)
  3. Review your returned tests to determine what kind of errors were made.  Analyzing your tests and going over them with your instructor will help to keep you from making the same kind of errors on future exams.
