Peer Educator Training Symposium

We are seeking campus partners to share their knowledge with peer educators on day two of the Peer Educator Training Symposium. Theses sessions are 50 minutes in length and can cover a broad range of topics around pedagogy, socio-emotional skills, and professional development for peer educators.  If you are interested in participating as a presenter, please submit a Presenter Proposal Form.

The Peer Educator Training Symposium is a two day experience during  which undergraduate peer educators will be provided with foundational training focused on MSU policy and procedure, pedagogy, and socio-emotional skills. If you would like to participate in this training event, please complete the Peer Educator Training Symposium Participant Registration Form. The Registration form should be completed by departmental contacts with access to MSU account information. Additional details included in the form.

  • When is the Peer Educator Training Symposium?
    • The Peer Educator Training Symposium will be held on Friday, September 20th from 12:30pm – 5:30pm and Saturday, September 21st from 8am – 5pm.
  • What sessions are being offered on Friday and Saturday?
    • Friday, September 20th will focus on MSU Policy and Procedure presentations from campus subject matter experts.
    • Saturday, September 21st will include 50 minute session with various presenters focused on pedagogy, socio-emotional skills, and professional development.
  • Where is the Peer Educator Training Symposium being held?
    • The Peer Educator Training Symposium will be held in Hubbard Residence Hall. Specific room numbers will be provided prior to the symposium.
  • When does participant registration need to be completed by?
    • Participant registration must be completed by Monday, September 16th
  • I would like to present at the Symposium, how do I get connected?
    • Please complete the Presenter Proposal Form via the link provided on the Presenter Proposal Form tab.
  • Who can complete participant registration?
    • Departmental contacts (supervisors, unit leads, program leads, etc.) should complete the participant registration. Students/peer educators interested in participation should contact their supervisor to complete the form.
  • How much does it cost to attend the Peer Educator Training Symposium?
    • Cost is determined by attendance.
      • Attending Friday Only: $5.00 per person
      • Attending Saturday Only: $10.00 per person
      • Attending Friday and Saturday: $13.00 per person
  • What do the symposium attendance fees cover?
      • The symposium attendance fees cover supply cost and the cost of lunch on Saturday.
  • Where can I park?
  • Can faculty, staff, unit leads, etc. attend the symposium?
    • Yes, please complete the participant registration form or contact Sara Morales, Coordinator for Peer Educator Training and Professional Development at smorales@msu.edu.
  • Will there be an opportunity for me to connect with other faculty, staff, unit leads, etc. who work with peer educator programs?
    • The participant registration form offers an opportunity to opt in to as session for faculty, staff, unit leads, etc. If you are interested in an opportunity such as this, please make sure to complete this portion of the form.
