Academic Advisor, TRIO ProgramBiography
Emily Abrams is an Academic Advisor for the TRIO program, located in 209 Bessey hall. Emily has worked at Michigan State University since 2020 and for the NSSC since January 2022. She has her Bachelor of Music, Music Performance from Otterbein University and Masters of Science, Student Affairs in Higher Education from Miami University – Oxford and is currently working on her PhD in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University. Emily enjoys working for the NSSC because it is an investment in the whole student. She deeply values educational environments that understand students beyond what they do in the classroom and feels that the NSSC embodies that.
TRIO SSS Peer Staff
TRIO SSS Peer Staff are upper level MSU students trained to provide leadership and guidance needed to be successful at MSU. TRIO Peer Coaches meet with scholars and participate in monthly activities involving relationship building with other scholars in the program and showing how to make the most of your time at MSU. TRIO Peer Tutors offer academic support in a variety of courses, in small group formats or one on one tutoring if preferred. TRIO Peer Tutors support scholars with in-person support in our TRIO Tutoring Center (215 Bessey Hall) or virtually via Zoom.
