Jimmy Hutchful
Academic Advisor, TRIO ProgramBiography
Jimmy Hutchful serves as an Academic Advisor for the TRIO SSS Program. Jimmy has been with Michigan State University since 2021, initially serving as a Resident Hall Director. He joined the TRIO SSS team in June 2023. Jimmy holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of West Georgia and a Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in College Student Affairs from the University of South Florida (USF). During his time at USF, Jimmy collaborated with professionals in the field to publish an article focused on Black Student Success. He takes pleasure in supporting students throughout various stages of their personal and academic development while forging meaningful connections along the way.
TRIO SSS Peer Staff
TRIO SSS Peer Staff are upper level MSU students trained to provide leadership and guidance needed to be successful at MSU. TRIO Peer Coaches meet with scholars and participate in monthly activities involving relationship building with other scholars in the program and showing how to make the most of your time at MSU. TRIO Peer Tutors offer academic support in a variety of courses, in small group formats or one on one tutoring if preferred. TRIO Peer Tutors support scholars with in-person support in our TRIO Tutoring Center (215 Bessey Hall) or virtually via Zoom.
